MENTAL HEALTH CONTINUUM REFORM

The goal of this exercise was to develop a list of proposed policy and practice solutions to address unmet needs along the mental health continuum, with a focus in San Diego County. These proposed changes were collected through one-on-one and small group discussions with more than 150 interested stakeholders over the course of 6 months.

ASSISTED LIVING REFORM

In 2014, Hazel's Army helped lead a coalition of stakeholders and elected officials to pass the most comprehensive assisted living reform effort in California's history -- the Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) Reform Act of 2014.

A total of 13 of the 19 bills carried by the California State Legislature that year passed and were signed into law by then-Governor Jerry Brown. An additional 4 policies were passed by the San Diego County Board of Supervisors adding further protections for seniors.
